A few years ago we commissioned an independent review of our organization. This assessment revealed that there was an over 90% recognition of the CSTT brand. In spite of this brand recognition, some people do not understand our purpose, our processes, our guarantee of anonymity and how cash rewards are paid.

We have therefore put together answers to some of the FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS about our operations.

If you will like to enquire further, reach out to us by using our contact form here

Is Crime Stoppers the police?

We are NOT the police. Crime Stoppers is an independent, registered non-profit company that helps solve crime by taking anonymous tips and passing these to the police for investigation.

Should I call 999 or Crime Stoppers (800-8477)?

If you are the victim of a crime, observe a crime in progress and any other incident requiring immediate action always call the police at 999. Contact Crime Stoppers to anonymously report suspicious activities, ongoing unlawful activities and information about unsolved cases being investigated by the police.

What is a Tip?

A tip is any bit of information you become aware of that can help law enforcement authorities solve a crime or prevent a crime. No piece of information is too small. This may be the missing link needed by law enforcement to solve a particular case.

Is my call to Crime Stoppers really anonymous?

Crime Stoppers does not use any form of caller identification, call tracing voice mail or call waiting facility. We do not collect any personal information from our callers, so you remain completely anonymous. After submitting a tip, you will be provided a unique confidential PIN to use when checking the status of your tip or picking up your reward.

Is my Online Tip anonymous?

Tips submitted through this website are encrypted, entirely confidential, completely anonymous and are immediately transferred to a secure server located outside Trinidad and Tobago. Advanced Tip Management Software transfers only the information provided in your tip to our Crime Stoppers Call Centre. All electronic traces of the online communication are immediately removed from the overseas servers instantly upon receipt so your identity is protected. After submitting an online tip, you will be provided a unique PIN to use when checking the status of your tip or picking up your reward.

At what point will I be paid a cash reward?

If your tip results in a successful outcome you become eligible for a cash reward.

How much will my cash reward be?

Crime Stoppers pays a maximum cash reward of $10,000 depending on the severity of the crime solved by the tip given.

Will I need to provide my ID or DP when collecting my reward?

No. All that is required at the bank is the CONFIDENTIAL PIN given to you by the Call Centre Operator. You will also not be required to sign any documents at the bank.
